The Mistletoe Secret Book Review
Synopsis
Alex Bartlett went through a rough divorce and is still healing almost a year later. One night he stumbles across a blog, written anonymously by LBH. When he reads the sensitive, honest, and lonely words by this mystery woman, he begins to fall in love with her. Her words touch his heart as they mirror his own loneliness. Alex finds a few clues to where she lives and decides to travel across the country to try to find and meet her. With only her initials, he doesn't know if he's looking for a Lisa, Lori, or Luanne. Alex meets a woman named Aria at a diner and she serves pie along with some much needed sympathy and companionship.
My Thoughts
This is a sweet holiday story. You can read it when you want a short escape and it will leave you with a smile on your face. The story was a bit predictable, but still an enjoyable read. I liked the characters - Richard Paul Evans does a good job at writing people you want to read about. Alex and Aria are definitely more developed than the supporting characters, but you will like the scenes with Ray the innkeeper, smile at how Aria's friend Valerie treats Alex, and be thankful that Alex has friends like Nate and Dale.
I loved how Richard Paul Evans portrayed small towns in Utah, this is quite accurate from what I've seen. We have traveled quite a bit of the state while living here the past 6 years. I've even been to Midway where this story takes place.
Richard Paul Evans is an author here in Utah. He had a few pre-launch signings. I went to one and bought the book early, had it signed, and was able to have my picture taken with Richard Paul Evans. He had three events back to back that day, but he didn't rush people through. He took the time to talk with each of the people and he was the one to suggest we could take a picture. It's nice when authors are so kind to their fans.
